A native of Kent, Ohio – Vinnie Goldthwaite is a gifted songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist. He has been writing music for more than 35 years and was inspired by such artists as The James Gang, the Numbers Band, Glass Harp, The Raspberries, and many others. At an early age he played an evening with Koko Taylor at the Kove. He has opened for such bands as the James Gang, Johnny ''Guitar Jr'' Watson, Marshall Tucker, The Lovin Spoonful, The Turtles, Rick Derringer with Max Wheel and the Shades, and The Vogues.
His first band, City Lights with Jack Kidney, played the downtown scene and evolved into The Immortal Porpoises with Steve Downey and Gerry Simon. Vinnie''s guitar and vocals thrust him into the forefront of performing. His diverse guitar work led him to play with The Howard Street Blues Band and collaborate with Russ Hagler of The Easy Street Band. Vinnie Goldthwaite and Russ Hagler have been writing and performing original music together locally for the last 15 years, and their love for sharing their music with others motivates them to continue doing so today.
Vinnie Goldthwaite believes that music comes from the heart and should stir the listener’s soul. His unique songs are enhanced by their memorable lyrics and powerful hooks, which reel you in and get under your skin. His emotionally charged guitar and compelling vocals stand out in all the distinctly passionate songs he has written.
