Bobby Richards is a writer. He has written Books, Scripts and notes. He has written songs for many bands. He has written songs for Uncle Fester, Broken Condom Babies, Aaron Grant. He has also written songs for Lucinda Williams, Frank Black, Elvis Costello and Johnny Cash. Unfortunately most of these artists have not recorded the songs or even returned Bobby’s emails. But there is one artist who appreciates Bobby Richards’ writing style. His sometimes clever, quirky lyrics. His mix of styles and genres. Yes one artist. That artist is Bobby Richards.
Bobby Richards Inc. is a collection of musicians from various places and times gathered to play some new songs from the Infamous Bobby Richards. Since Bobby Richards was cursed in his early twentys to live eternity as an illustration many people have counted him out. Well they shouldn’t have. After an unsuccessful album with Archie Andrews was shelved Bobby Richards decided to call up some old friends and just record some songs and see what comes out of it. The third thing to come out of this (and the first worth putting out) is Sweet Like Poison. Sweet Like Poison is a song Bobby wrote awhile ago and recorded a version with his pal Reno Fitch in Richards and Fitch. But at the end of a jam session with Cam Purvis and Paul Bennett of Wax Poets they started jamming it and decided to record it.
