Details:
Guitarist, singer, and songwriter, Scott Becker is a native of Boston, Mass. who set up camp in Austin, Texas in 1990 and never looked back. Becker came to start guitar lessons at age 7 when some kid down the street started at Guitah Village. The dude in there had played jazz with the legendary Fletcher Henderson and with The Supremes and he seemed to have a magic to make that Stromberg guitar talk.
After moving to another town it was time to learn the licks of the rock giants like Jimi and Eric and Duane and Pete and the other Jimmy. It was a Return to Forever concert in high school that made the connection from the Allmans to Miles and Coltrane, to Zeppelin, to Carlos, to Jerry, and to Steely Dan.
Subsequent years included international travel and musical experiences, family life and employment. The guitar never ventured far away.
The dust finally settled in Austin Texas where a variety of musical interludes produced "The View From Here", Becker''s first cd in 1999.
The years and life experiences have rolled on resulting in 2009''s
"Time and Money", Becker''s current offering.
The music is a unique blend of bluesy, jazzy, kick ass rock drawing on influences as diverse as Indian classical music, jazz guitar icons like Pat Metheny and rockers like Garcia, Page and Clapton. The tunes are catchy, the lyrics are resonant and the groove sicks around long after the songs are over.
Joining him on "Time and Money" are some of Austin''s finest players like Phil Redmond, Yoggie Musgrove, John Mills, and Brannen Temple. Selected songs feature a string section, tabla as well as acoustic and electric baritone guitars, Gypsy guitars and a fretless electric guitar.
The recurrent voice is that searing vintage Gibson hollow body guitar cruising along with the voice doing those cool melodies.
Hey! There''s some cool stuff in this cd! Check it out!
