Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Jewel has been influenced by every form of music imaginable. Jewel’s first recording was at the age of thirteen. During her high school years, Jewel was selected to represent the state of Tennessee for Girls at the National Choir Convention in San Antonio, Texas. During that time she also attended the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. After graduation, she continued her education and was awarded a vocal performance scholarship, to Austin Peay State University of Clarksville, Tennessee.
In 1998, Jewel moved to the state of Texas where she rededicated her life to Christ and began to focus on Jesus. She was able to co-write several songs with a local gospel label, and complete a gospel CD project entitled “Believe and Receive”. Jewel was selected to appear on the Bobby Jones Gospel showcase in 2004 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Hotel. She was also selected to perform for the 2004 "I Hear Music in the Air Conference" in Cincinnati, Ohio, hosted by Gospo Centric Records. She has participated in gospel music workshops with Minister Byron Cage and Minister Steve Lawrence, director of music for the Potter’s House of Dallas, Texas. In 2005, Jewel opened up for several gospel artists like Shirley Caesar, The Williams Brothers, and Dr. Timothy Wright. After relocating back home to Nashville, TN, she was cast as “Effie” in the production Dreamgirls in 2007, as “Mama Matron Morton” in the production Chicago in 2007, in 2008 she was cast as “Ms. Lovett” in the production Sweeney Todd, in 2009 cast as "Jenna" in Motherhood the Musical, and as "Mama Euralie'' in Once On This Island.
She is currently working on a new gospel project. Date of release to be announced.
