Bob Brown was born and raised in the Detroit, Michigan area. He is of English and German descent. He has no Native American heritage in this lifetime to his knowledge. He has been spiritual all of his life. He was raised Catholic and spent his freshman year of college as a postulant in a monastery of the Congregation of Christian Brothers. After leaving the monastery he attended Purdue University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. He also received a Master of Science degree in Artificial Intelligence from DePaul University. He worked over 14 years at Accenture LLC developing computer systems for various utility companies.
In his final year at Accenture, he took a 13 day retreat at Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat and Conference Center in Detroit, Oregon, https://www.tradebit.com (This is a great place to get back in touch with nature, yourself and Spirit). One day while hiking up to Devils Peak he received the message to quit his job, sell his condo in Chicago and move to the mountains. He thought that the mountains meant the western part of the United States. Spirit had other mountains in mind.
The day he signed the contract to sell his condo he received a brochure in the mail about a trip to Peru and Machu Picchu that Spirit said he needed to take. The trip was to start the day after his last day at Accenture. On that trip he had a powerful spiritual experience and he was told he was to be a shaman and live in Peru. After some months of reflection he returned to Peru for two months. During this time he was listening for guidance as to where to live and what to do. He was guided to open a healing center in the town of Aguas Calientes near the base of Machu Picchu. He was to locate it up by the hot springs and call it “Soaring Health”. He was to provide massage and energy healing on a donation basis. So off he went to massage school.
He attended Heartwood Institute in Northern California https://www.tradebit.com (This is a phenomenal massage school). Bob sensed that he was going to learn to play the Peruvian pan flute when he was at massage school. This did not happen because he was guided to give the flute to one of the administrators in the second week there. A few weeks later he was given a Native American Love Flute by Mark Wyly, another student. This gift started Bob on his journey with these flutes.
Bob lived in Peru for more than two years and became a shaman doing healing work and exploring Machu Picchu, himself and his relationship with Spirit.
The journey stopped for a few months because Bob was guided to give the flute away to a spiritual mentor and he was never to play or have another Native American flute unless someone gave him one without asking for a flute. This was a very difficult and yet freeing experience. Two days later the mentor said that Bob could have the flute back when he thought he was ready for it and if the mentor also thought it was the right time. A few months later Bob received the flute back into his stewardship. Bob has acquired 8 more flutes from Eagle Heart. One he was guided to give to Mark Wyly to replace the original flute, one was given to a shaman, Jesus, in Peru, and another flute was given to a woman from New York during a teepee ceremony.
Bob’s music background includes a few months with the clarinet during fourth grade. It is interesting that the clarinet is similar to the Native American flute in that it is a wind instrument that is played straight on.
Bob has played his flutes in hospitals and nursing homes to bring peace and healing to the residents. At the request of Spirit, in January, 2008 he spent three weeks in Jerusalem playing his flutes to bring peace and healing to the area.
He currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
