Honesty.
Music can lack honesty. It''s true. Just turn on your radio or listen to what plays in your big-chain grocery store.
But there are bands out there, maybe they don''t get heard by the masses, or sell 10 million records, but they make music with honesty and passion, because
they know what''s out there...and they want to provide an alternative to the dull thump of what''s "Cool" and "Popular".
The Anchor are an honest band. They work for a living, and play music to escape the grind. You''re probably somewhere in the grind right now: wake up-work-school-relationship-midterms-stress-sleep.
Sometimes you have to do something to turn the grind into something creative. Paint a picture, write a poem, take photographs, just DO SOMETHING. The Anchor chose music.
The Anchor made a record. These guys went into a room and played these songs together and it was recorded. Some songs were even played more than once. They then sang over it, Randy Ponzio mixed it, and you have an album. Sometimes you''ll hear an off-key note or a missed drum hit. This might sound strange to you, but it''s okay. It''s just the human element.
The Anchor are a simple band. You won''t see any of these guys/girls rocking a laptop or a turntable onstage...there are plenty of bands who do that well enough already. This is just guitar-bass-drums-singing.
Hands, fingers, feet, and voices. There''s the human element again.
The Anchor don''t dream to sell out arenas or be sponsored by clothing companies. If they could have a career where they could play music town to town, release records on an independant label to a devoted following, and never hit the "Big Time"...then they would be perfectly satisfied.
The Anchor''s music reflects the people who are in the band. The music can be fast, slow, celebratory or tragic, but there''s always emotion at the heart of the song. You might stick a label on that sentence, point and laugh and call it "Emo". It''s just music.
Look, there are a lot of bands out there. The Anchor might not get heard by the masses or sell 10 million records.
But whoever will hear this, will always hear honesty.
