Allendale Road is the musical partnership created by Los Angeles based songwriters Allen Mills and Dale Balough. Originally conceived as a part-time project to produce song demos for other artists, Allendale Road (the band) and “Year of Sundays” (the CD) gradually evolved over the two-year period the guys spent working in the studio. The title of the CD, “Year of Sundays”, is a not so subtle reminder about the amount of time it took to complete the project. More importantly, “Year of Sundays” answers a question frequently asked by the duo’s friends and family: “What the heck are you guys doing in that studio all day?”
The songs on “Year of Sundays” reflect the diverse musical interests of the songwriting pair. Categorizing the music is not easy, as the songs range from pedal steel tinged country ballads to electric guitar laced rockers. The ten songs featured on this CD sometimes evoke a sense of nostalgia for the “good ol’ days”, with a touch of idealism thrown in for good measure.
