G. F. Handel is a well known composer, not indeed his Flute Sonatas. We can discover in them agile and sometimes light baroque music but with deep and profound knowledge of the baroque counterpoint and it’s unique musical technique; that always places Handel’s music in higher standards. Many have thought that history has been quite unfair with him, that he deserves a better place in the pyramid of musical talents. Here is another example of that. This two albums of Handel’s Flute Sonatas, confirm again the theory that he is a great composer. Flutist Jean Paul Arout and Harpsichordist Louis Dourand give us a delightful performance, quite unique, almost minimal, without surfeit, precise and with particular technical reserves. Very well recorded they are among the best ever.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Jean Paul Arout - Flute
A native of Paris France, flutist Jean Paul Arout received his musical training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris of the Conservatoire de Paris.
Living today in Lyon France, he has held a professorship at Lyon École de Musique since 2001, and since 2003 has been part of the wood section of the Lyon Chamber Orchestra. International recognition was established in 2004 when he won a special award at Lyon Festival de Musique, and has grown through his recording career with over two recordings. Jean Paul Arout performs frequently in major international halls and concert festivals. He conducts master classes in flute performance specialized in baroque music as well as minimal contemporary musical style.

Louis Dourand - Harpsichord
A native of Paris France, Louis Dourand received his musical training in Spain from José Arango and Ma. Dolores Zozaya.
Living today in Portugal, he has held a professorship at Lisboa School of Music since 1989, and since 1993 has served as University Harpsichord & Piano Player at the University of Lisboa. International recognition was established in 1998 when he won the Portugal Third Harpsichord Festival, and has grown through his recording career with over four recordings. Louis Dourand performs frequently in major international halls and concert festivals. He conducts master classes both in harpsichord & piano interpretation specialized in baroque Iberian keyboard music.
