Marc Ellis, a native of Walkerton, Ontario, and graduate of York Universities Music Composition program, has been playing piano for as long as he can remember. His passion for music was nurtured from childhood and he began composing and improvising his own music while only in grade four. In grade six Marc was asked to assist his church choir as the assistant music director becoming one of the youngest music parishioners in the diocese. Marc was nominated for Junior Citizen of the year in 2000 by the citizens of Walkerton for his commitment to music and various volunteer expenditures and contributions to his community.
Marc is a five time semi-finalist and two-time finalist of Star Search and has been featured numerous times on television performing his original compositions. Since moving to Toronto Marc has won the titles of Toronto Idol (2004) as well as Mr. International (2004). Marc has been a featured performer for Fashion Cares 20th anniversary, has headlined Toronto’s Main Event Party ‘Arctic Babylon’ at the Guvernment for Pride, where he was delighted to have his original composition sampled by legendary DJ / Producer Tony Moran. Marc has also been a featured entertainer for the past five years for Bloor Street Entertains performing at Holt Renfrew, Lobby and the ROM.
Marc’s most recent accolades were being featured on Much Music’s ‘Rockstar Supermodels’ (December 08) and having the privilege of performing for his idol, 15-time Grammy award winning producer David Foster, who told him ‘that he wanted to steal his musical ideas and make them his own,’ the footage appeared on Etalk Daily with Ben Mulrooney.
