Details:
Brian Wier has just released his first independent solo single, FINALLY. It seems like a long wait unless you consider that he had to build the studio he used to record it in. It''s called "(Je Vis Pour Toi) Krisinda" and it is worth the wait. It''s an awesome sounding mix of experimental rock, metal and believe it or not trance music. It''s like nothing we''ve ever heard before. Combine surreal soaring dynamic vocals with cutting edge guitar and keyboards backed by intricate and driving bass and percussion- sprinkle with insightful, in-depth lyrics and your left with an exhilarating, thought provoking, body shaking piece of cutting-edge rock. The concept behind the phrase "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" is fully realized in Brian Wier''s "(Je Vis Pour Toi) Krisinda". From the very first drum take to the very last mixdown Brian''s vision is dished out instrument by instrument until the end product (which is in his head from the get-go) is fully produced and printed on disc.

In the translucently narcissistic panorama of modern America the last thing in the world anyone wants to hear is someone proclaiming a gangly, long-haired Texan to be "the best musician in the State." Frankly, the reaction of any sane individual with a (non-narcotics dissipated) brain between his or her ears to this kind of drivel has to be either “Who gives a s**t.” or even more directly, “you’re full of s**t!”

However, if—like me—you actually give in to the minutest grain of curiosity, prepare to be lured into the intricate web of Wier''s manic musicianship and performance, then perhaps to be goaded into being proven completely, one hundred percent, back-assed wrong by the willowy vocalist, guitarist, pianist and just-about-everything-ist, and despite initial reservations, get ready to have each and every one of those doubts shoved one by one down your resistant and cynical throat.

Like all of the greatest artists, everything that has happened to Brian Wier has somehow become grist for the mill of his craft. From the time when he was nine and first grasped the clangorous beauty and power of the classical guitar, to his years performing professionally as a percussionist in the genres of symphonic, rock and jazz, he has always been attuned to the vast oceans of music in the world around him. He has unflinchingly succored himself upon the genius of the greats before him, yet such sustenance would be mere cover mimicry if it were not for the fact of Wier''s originality of style and his uniqueness as an artist.

Honing and perfecting his bountiful talents in Los Angeles in his late teens and early twenties, he soared to even more exalted heights on his return to the Texas scene, where he has immersed himself in nurturing Citadel, playing for other acts, and displaying sublime levels of excellence with a wide range of instruments (keys, guitar, bass, drums and more).

Supporting his musical dexterity, however, is Wier''s lyrical insight and vision. No starry-eyed swallower of mindless consumerism, his realistic attitude to life, his awareness of its uncertainties and complexities, allow him to weave the difficulties of his own life into lyrics that resonate and thrum in deep places of the human spirit.

Despite the common perception of musicians as zeitgeist-worshipers and egoists, Wier''s carefully guarded private life reveals deep wellsprings of generosity and selflessness: a believer in philanthropy, he has donated to a wide variety of causes, including women''s crisis and rape centers, as well as causes against child abuse. He says with conviction: "For me the essence of music is everything. Life is rutted with pitfalls and troughs and downright deadly canyons. Art and music has to be the means to build ladders out of those canyons, or at least to fashion hammocks to console us while we are at the bottom."

Those who have heard Wier and been exposed to his music will sagely and knowingly nod their heads. That, and they will wonder with enthusiasm where his craft will take him next.
