The Sons of Wonder
The Sons of Wonder started out singing gospel music in 1969 at their home church, Silver Cloud M. B. Church in Friars Point, MS. The group consisted of Young boys from the community. The members were David Myles, Wayne Myles, Marvin Myles, Eddie West, Raymond A. Myles, Horace Jones, Clarence Murray and later on Roscoe, Jessie and Willie Myles, being the first generation. One day a man named David Anderson heard these young boys sing and fell in love with these young fellows. Mr. Anderson decided that he would pay a visit to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Myles and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Jones. In doing so Mr. Anderson asked them if he could take their kids around to different churches so that other people could hear them. They agreed and Mr. Anderson began to take the young boys to many different churches throughout the Mississippi Delta. After about a year the boys had been singing but had no name. A man named Harry Cooper heard the boys and decided, they should be called The Sons of Wonder. The group accepted the name and has been called the Sons of Wonder to this day. After a couple of years Mr. Anderson decided that he had taken the group as far as he could and he decided to ask Lester Myles Sr. if he would take on the responsibility of working with mostly his younger brothers and he agreed. The group has gone through many changes sense then. In August 1972 Horace (Sam) Jones lost his life while visiting relatives in East St. Louis, IL. to a gunshot wound. Two years after that, August 1974, Clarence and Eddie had a Motorcycle accident and Clarence lost his life. Eddie left and went to St. Louis and that left the group with all brothers. They traveled and blessed souls throughout until God decided to elevate several of them to Ministers and Pastors thus making way for the second generation being, Lester Myles Jr., Earl Myles, Lee Myles Sr., Raymond E. Myles and third generation members Lester Myles III, the son of Lester Jr. who does not perform with the group right now but remains an honorary member, Thaddeus Myles, the son of Earl Myles and Lee Myles Jr. the son of Lee Myles Sr. Past members are Michael Thomas, Kenneth Lackey, Kelvin Chambers, Dwight Starks, Jorgan Jackson, Frederick Burton and Jeremy Franklin.
This group of young men has been blessed to record several records and CDS over the pass years that has bless the soul of many people throughout the World. The Sons of Wonder is a group of young men who love the Lord and mean to do his will no matter what. Three generations strong and still going. God has moved them all over the country carrying his word in song. The recorded several records before striking a nerve in the gospel world with their CD hit "Out of the Storm," selling thousands of copies. The guys took a break from the road and the studio around 2004 and regrouped their personal lives for a while. Their record label, established in 1999, stayed very busy during this time, recording many artist from all over the country. God finally decided He was ready for The Sons of Wonder to get back to work. So he set things in order and The Sons of Wonder are on it again with their new release, "Train Ride."
