Details:
The Raytones is all about fun and music. We combine upbeat blues, rock and roll and funk to energetic and funny lyrics about such things as wearing our favorite pajamas, riding on the train, balloons, daddy''s scratchy facial hair, traffic safety, exercise, and being happy with exactly who you are. Aways remember; "You don''t have to be blue to listen to blues! Be orange, green or purple, any color you choose!"

Baby Beats & Beyond: By Yoshi Kato Thursday, San jose Mercury News February 21st, 2008

I’m always amazed when a work is successfully transfered from one medium to another. Whether its the film adaptations of the Harry Potter books or the transformation of the cult film The Producers into a Broadway smash, it’s impressive to see a great idea actualized differently.

I had first come to know The Raytones (formerly TheBaby Blue Blues Band) through its website, which depicts the quartet and its mascot, Ray the Rhino, as colorful cartoon characters — literally colorful, with each band member sporting an individual color a la the Power Rangers.

My first live Raytones experience came at the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose on the afternoon of February 10. Consisting of guitarist-vocalist Alex De Luca, keyboardist Nicki Kerns, bassist-vocalist Richard Burgen and drummer Jeff Hughes, the group was just as colorful in person as it is on-line.

Having a larger than life Ray as part of the show, along with the excellent and versatile dancers Nathan and Audrey, made the show an event. Oversized graphics and lyrics were projected to the back wall behind the stage as The B4 ripped through tunes from its eponymous debut.

Several young ones of various ages were up and dancing, as were the adults with them. A good time was had by all — particularly Ray, if his cool moves were any indication.

The band was so great! They had dancers, a big ol'' dancing Rhino character, they threw out a bunch of big balloons for the kids to throw in the air, etc. Jason and Tyler loved the big balloons. And, while the band''s dancers were dancing to a tune called "Swinga Linga Jump Jump," Dylan ran out there to join them (luckily, Tom caught him in time). The show was super cute!
