Of my six recordings, this one is the most deeply personal. Only four of the tunes are traditional melodies; the rest are my original compositions, and were inspired by a wide variety of experiences in my life.
Some of the songs are impressions (Rain, June Morning, Whippoorwill) while others arose from life events. The harp is my sanctuary, my place to play out feelings and emotions whether inspiring or heavy.
A Certified Music Practitioner, I play therapeutic music on the harp for ill and dying people, and all the while it is also healing for me.
When the world was reeling around me that fateful September 11th, Sorrow was the result; Contemplation, Almost Home, Promises & Celebration arose during the harrowing days and then the completion of my husband’s cancer treatment; and Peace was my prayer as my mother-in-law neared death.
These are melodies of struggle and triumph, and of peace. May they float gently on your soul and draw you into a sanctuary as well!
