Singer/songwriter currently living in Bathurst, NSW.
Retreated to Bathurst 20 years ago when Sydney got too sterile. Career in Sydney involved busking at Kings Cross and duos with brother Michael; keyboardist for Sydney band 5th Business (Mark Lucas and Jodie Phyllis); playing inner city circuit – Landsdown, Manzill Room, Cardoma Café.
The first LPs Tony ever bought (at the age of 11) were Get yer Ya Yas Out- Rolling Stones; Cosmos Factory by Credence and Abby Road by the Beatles. This type of music set the musical landscape for Tony that was later embellished when he discovered the original scratchy recordings from the 30’s by delta blues players like Robert Johnson, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and Muddy Waters. This was like a shock to his soul and was to thereafter influence the heart of his own music.
Freefall is Tony’s second CD produced in Bathurst. The first “Glorybox” was a smaller compilation of 4 songs. “Freefall” is a collection of 9 songs written and recorded in the small village of Peel, 16km outside Bathurst. The final production was a long time in coming – interwoven with the normal constraints of life, family and working in kitchens. Tony’s twin brother Michael died part way through the album and this had a significant impact on the remainder of his work.
