Classical, oriental, Arabic and metal influences are combined in the progressive rock made by Schizoid Lloyd.
The debut EP “Virus” made by this young band from the Netherlands will be released at the end of April 2009. The most interesting thing about the music are the different influences that create a unique sound. Spacious Symphonic phrases and heavy guitar riffs are followed by oriental melodies and classical harmonies inspired by Mozart and Bach. Schizoid Lloyd takes you on a journey through spheres and experiences.
The band, set up in October 2007, worked with Oscar Holleman on their debut EP “Virus”. He made the final mix and brought a broad full sound to the EP. Bass and drums were recorded at studio Zeezicht, which was part of their reward for winning the Rob Acda Award 2008. According to the jury Schizoid Lloyd won because of “the surprises in the compositions, excellent instrument control and the variety and dynamics in the music”. Two months later Schizoid Lloyd performed on the main stage of the biggest liberty festival in the Netherlands. Afterwards the local media commented: “remarkable that a band of such short existence can create such a profound expressiveness”.
The following months the band has been working on getting the songs ready for their debut EP. Pink Floyd, System of a down, Porcupine tree, Tool and Radiohead are sources of influence. Between the complex compositions the listener can catch a breath with the shorter conspicuous songs.
