My goal is to bring back the instrumental...so much nowadays is put into the "song" with "the meaning of the lyrics", but too often, that meaning gets lost in very uninspiring https://www.tradebit.comtever happened to the cool ass instrumentals that people could tap their foot to, or bang their head to, or just groove to ? The Ventures. Dick Dale. Duane Eddy. The Sufaris. Joe Satriani. Eric Johnson. Steve Morse. Craig Chaquico. Bernie Williams. Heck, why not Charlie Pugliese? Not that I''m equating myself with these true musical icons, but I want to do what I can to get a vibe going with anyone who still digs a good catchy instrumental tune now and again. I''ll keep at it and eventually I''ll get it ....

I am Charlie and I''ve been playing guitar for over 30 years. I was in some heavy metal bands in Nashville back in the late 80''s but things just didn''t work out. I got really burned out by the whole thing and was basically out of playing for years and years. I moved to Florida in 2000 and tried to get inspired, but nothing was really clicking until about a year ago, when for no reason, I got the itch back. So I dove heavily into playing and writing and then had to get a digital recorder to get the stuff in my head out and onto disc. And since I have never been able to sing or write lyrics and vocal melodies, all of my solo material will be in instrumental form. I like the challenge of having to keep the music a little more interesting without good singing to carry a song.

This first CD is as homemade as you can get. It was all recorded on a Boss BR-600 in the peace and tranquility of my bedroom. I mixed and mastered it here and did the artwork and packaging as well. It was definitely a painstaking experience, as I was learning about what I could do with the recorder, drum programming, and overall production as I was going. By the last song ( the order on the CD is not the order I recorded them in ), I felt as if I had improved a bit in mixing and production from the first few.

I can''t wait to get started on the next project, as the sound quality should be vastly improved. Also, I want to go more in specific directions, as this a real grab bag of all styles. My roots are always going to be the hard and heavy ones, but I do want to venture more into laid back acoustic songs, more blues-oriented things, and some old rockabilly and surf styes too. And yes, I did dabble in a bluegrass thing as well, which came out better than I expected, as that is really not my natural style.

I am excited about getting listener feedback on this batch of songs. Ones you like. Ones you don''t. Advice, tips, everything will be appreciated and will help steer me in the direction of who likes what styles of my playing..

I hope everyone finds something they enjoy here.
