Whatever happened to good ol’ Rock & Roll? There have been many attempts to answer this question but not many to remedy it…until now! New York musician Doug Ratner is here to bring rock back to its roots!
Doug has already released an EP of foot-stompers that has won audiences all over New York. “People come to me after shows,” says singer/lead guitarist Doug Ratner, “and tell me that my music reminds them of when Rock & Roll was Rock & Roll.”
Doug plays rock the way it’s meant to be: raw and emotional. They have the heavy guitar sound reminiscent of early The Who and Pearl Jam as evidenced on their songs “I Still Fall” and “Bottle Me Up.” Tracks such as “Alone Again” and “Arise” are in the same spirit but more along the lines of modern jangle-guitar rock such as Coldplay and John Mayer.
The honesty in Ratner’s lyrics shines through in his vocal work as well as through his group’s performance. “There are no fabrications, no lies or feelings of deception within my music,” says Ratner. “When I write a song, I want the listener to interpret it any way he wants. It’s my job to say what I have to say with as much emotion as I can but the way in which the listener interprets it is up to him.”
