12 Fridays: The Debut Album for Gary Branscombe.

Recorded on a series of Friday afternoons, 12 Fridays is not an album of song clones. Each song tells a personal story based on a wide variety of experiences; of growing up all over the country, of love won, of love lost, of love desired and then denied, of hippies and cavemen and kids. All told with a mix of up beat Americana, Canadiana, west coast pop, unintentional country, blues, pseudo spanish and moody 70''s prog rock.

It''s a Garfunkel-less-Simon. It''s what you get when you mix Talking Heads and Gordon Lightfoot. It''s Niel Young on Heineken. It''s a rocked up David Francey. It''s 12 Fridays, each Friday different, unique and looking forward to a great new weekend.

Hey, How Are You opens the album. It''s a fun sing along tune with an unintentional country feel. It''s the story behind old friends meeting after a long time absence.

The Caveman Song is based on a true incident: "I was trying to light the gas fireplace in a hotel room at Mont Tremblant. They do go to great lengths to hide the On switch for the gas fireplace in those hotels, let me tell you! For some reason I thought, ''here I am just like a caveman still trying to light a fire for my woman! Some things never change.''" You just don''t hear a lot of Caveman songs these days. This song Stomps!

I Lost my Friend tells the story of a WW1 soldier losing his best friend and having to sit down and write his friends mother a letter. The song opens on a WW1 battlefield with a solo acoustic guitar. It builds into a memorable chorus and climaxing with a stong David Gilmour style electric guitar solo. The song ends with the words "I Don''t want him to be Forgotten." Based on a real letter passed down from Grandmother, the liner notes include photos and a complete reproduction of the original letter. 90 years later it''s still a heartbreaking read. A must have track for any Great War history buff.

The album finishes on upbeat BlueSkyDay, taking you back to the last day of school, playing hopscotch and frisbee in the park. It vamps into an Andrew-LLoyd-Webber inspired outro where all cast members join the ensemble for the grande finale overture. Repeat and Fade.
