With a style that hearkens back to the days of Doug Sahm, Townes Van Zandt, and a young Bruce Springsteen, Ricky Stein is continuously improving his craft while consistently drawing eager listeners to the music hubs of central Texas. His music can be described as Americana, but should not be limited as such; influences such as Wilco, My Morning Jacket, and the White Stripes are equally as evident in the songs he writes as are the work of Springsteen, Dylan, and the Rolling Stones. On stage, he is at his best when supported by his four-piece rock-n-roll band, dubbed the .44; however, he is equally comfortable when stripped down to just him and an acoustic guitar. In any case, two things are evident from watching or listening to the 24-year old Austinite perform: he has an utmost passion and appreciation for music and a natural knack for pleasing a crowd. His debut album, "Crazy Days", is set for release in May 2009.
