X: True Un-Hollywood Story

Weapon X was born in Brooklyn, NY on Sept 17. 1981. The son of two Iranian immigrants here under political asylum the Weapon was exposed to books and music early in life. By the age of three he was reading simple childrens books and headphones on his head were a regular fixture.

After spending his early childhood in NY his parents decided to make the move to Los Angeles, California in hopes of finding a better future and a better environment for the family. Almost immediately X already didnt fit in and often times didnt get along with the teachers or his classmates. X began getting into fights with other children who decided it would be fun to mock his name and heritage. Fighting seemed to be the only way to get any respect. It also landed him in lots of trouble at school and at home. This would help him develop a tougher skin that would become invaluable to him in later years. It was what also what would bring trouble his way throughout his late teens.

It was during this period of time that he really began to discover his love for music as well. Becoming a member of the schools chorus in an effort to get out of class he discovered that he really enjoyed music. He began singing solos in front of audiences and being apart of school performances. However this was short lived. Upon entering high school X had decided that a male singer was not a good image to have in a place where everyone took every opportunity to poke fun at other peoples weaknesses. Furthermore his voice cracked leaving him with a less that desirable voice. This lead him to then experiment with poetry, and eventually combine his experience with melody and rhyme to make the transition into hip hop music as a way to cope with difficult times in his life.

A few years and scrapped projects later the Weapon finally released his debut album Portrait of a "Starving Artist" on Jan 29th 2008. Featuring production by the late Clockwork Murder, the album is a vivid depiction of the hardships X has endured over the years combined with intricate wordplay over brilliant production. In addition to the full legnth album an EP collaboration with fellow emcee Base One Basic entitled "The Sleepless Sessions" was released in May 2008 as well.

In addition to his solo career X is also closely affiliated with Basic Poetry, an Iranian American group consisting of Base One Basic and Apoetnomadali and will be lending his talents to their future project. X has also made various guest apperances on other artists albums, such as Grievous Bodily Harm, G.R.Y.M.M, and 2 Recieve as well as making apperances on Conspiracy Worldwide Radio. He has also opened up for such artists such as Slow Suicide Stimulus and Yakballz. Currently X is focusing on several future projects including his future softmore release. To sum up how Weapon X feels about the music: Theres only two things in life that matter to me most, my fam and my music, without them I cease to exist.
