Ungdom i Oppdrag Skien is an ensemble of multi-cultural and multi-lingual, on-fire worshippers of Jesus! They are based out of Skien, Norway and its members include a unique variety of professional (American, Gary Sadler and Norwegian, Arvid Pettersen) and fresh musicians and singers.
The CD, “Surround” was recorded live at a power-packed youth conference called Embrace, which took place in Skien, Norway in November 2008. This album has been recorded with the purpose and passion to reach out to young Christians around Norway, and around the world, who have a burning desire to realize God''s presence and closeness in their lives. The title track, “Surround”, expresses this passionate plea for God to be ever so close and personal to us, in our daily lives. Throughout the rest of the tracks, the lyrics express an answer to this plea; the realization that God is indeed a close and personal God who sees the individual. Beyond that, “Surround” also expresses themes of faith, hope, surrender, commitment, justice, joy, the love of God, and the declaration of the awesome and holy character of God.
As far as the sound goes, the more upbeat tracks (such as “See His Love”, “Almighty God”, “Hellig Hellig”, “Everlasting God”) on “Surround” have a catchy, easy to get into, powerful, anthemic, progressive pop-rock feel to them. The slower, ballad tracks (such as “Your Name”, “Jeg Overgir”, “Min Gud”, and “Surround”) carry an anointed, soothing, heartfelt, worshipful, honest desperation for, and trust in our Almighty God. To tie everything together, stick around for the special hidden track at the end of the CD.
