“If We Ever Need a Super Man” is John Hunter Phillips’ latest addition to his catalog of music, both original and interpretive.
As with his previous two CDs, “Diamonds On the Beach” (2000) and “It’s About Time” (2006), John’ latest is self-produced along with Robert “Boo” English, and bears John’s signature harmonies. Heavily influenced by the works of Brian Wilson, John’s sterling output has oftentimes been compared to that of the famous Beach Boys.
Once again, this JHP original composition constitutes John’s fine voice(s) and his own harmonic arrangement at its best, with the promise of much more to follow.
David Floyd, John’s super talented friend and sequencer/arranger, lends his hand on this fine new recording. It is David’s orchestration on this song that lends a movie score and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) flavor to this decidedly inspirational composition.
