MP3 The Skullcranes - Columbia Heights Nights

A loud, fast, non-political, tounge in cheek dirty mess best served with a cocktail or two in a smoky room with no windows. Somehow melding together country, 70''s rock, early eighties English metal and early eighties east coast punk.

Details:
The northern edge of Minneapolis, Minnesota. A blue collar
inner rim suburb with a sister city of Lomianki, Poland. Columbia Heights has always been the home of factories, railroad yards, power lines and abandoned warehouses. "Nowhere to go but up" may as well be written on the signs welcoming you to the C.H. Most people only visit Columbia Heights briefly while going through the city using one of its main roads such as "Central" or "University" Avenues. Some would claim that the only good thing to ever come out of Columbia Heights is its relatively low property taxes or its array of ethnic restaurants.

That is about to change.

Enter, The Skullcranes.

A four piece band who has proclaimed themselves the "kings of trailer park punk". In the year 2000 this mess started with reasons to ignore the "enjoy in moderation" suggestions on the outside of beer and whiskey bottles. "We called that practicing" says Dan Laubach, original bass player for The Skullcranes. Today the band is rounded
out by Beau Larson on the drums, Jay Wahl on guitar and Mike Johnson on guitar and vocals. These four have been in many bands in the Minneapolis scene for years dating back to the early nineties. The eight plus years The Skullcranes have been together has been a germination of what they are today. A loud, fast, non-political,tongue in cheek dirty mess best served with a cocktail or two in a smoky room with no windows. Somehow melding together country, 70''s
rock, early eighties English metal and early eighties east coast punk with a sprinkle of "Auto Trader" magazine, The Skullcranes are sure to make you want to dig out that muscle tee we all know you have tucked away in your closet.
