Inspiring milestone collection of beloved songs celebrates the beauty, inspiration and historical significance of the Negro Spiritual art form

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD—Accomplished professional soprano, educator, speaker and TwinProductions founder Caroline G Gibson, DMA, announces the release of two milestone works: "On Ma Journey Now," a collection of 12 Negro Spirituals; and "The Making of ''On Ma Journey Now,"'' a breathtaking inside look at the recording session.
The album, recorded in February 2006 at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center in Alexandria, Virginia, features the vocals of Caroline G Gibson accompanied by pianist Francis Conlon.

Twelve classic Negro spirituals are featured on the milestone collection: "On Ma Journey;" "Give Me Jesus;" "City Called Heaven;" "His Name So Sweet;" "Steal Away;" "Honor, Honor;" "My Soul''s Been Anchored in de Lord;" "Po1 Mo''ner Got a Home At Las'';" "Ride On King Jesus;" "Witness;" "This Little Light O'' Mine;" and "He''s Got the Whole World In His Hand."

"The album underscores the importance of the Negro Spiritual art form to our culture," said Gibson. "This is truly American folk music."

The companion DVD, "The Making of ''On Ma Journey Now''" was produced with four cameras and enables the viewer to fully experience the emotion and power of the songs, Gibson''s artistry, and the simple beauty of the concert venue.

She founded TwinProductions in January 2006 to introduce and reacquaint the general public with the beauty, inspiration and historical significance of the Negro Spiritual art form.

Ms. Gibson has performed on PBS and in St Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and internationally in Toscana, Siena, Italy; Constanta, Romania; the Teatro Daniel Ayala Perez and Salon de la Historia de Palacio de Gobiermo in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico; and the Otono Cultural Festival at the Teatro Jose Peon Contreras, also in Yucatan, Mexico.

She has also performed two Verdi masterpieces: as Abigaille in Verdi''s "Nabucco" with the Constantine Opera in Constanta, Romania; and as the soprano soloist in Verdi''s "Requiem."

Caroline G Gibson is an active performer and earned the Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) Degree from the University of Iowa School of Music in Iowa City, Iowa; and she holds the Master of Music (M.M) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degrees from The Catholic University of America Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Washington, D.C. and the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, respectively.
