Will Vill has mastered his craft as an emcee – doing everything necessary to build his skills, whether it’s battling through verbal boot camp in some of NYC’s toughest blocks or showcasing his lyrical skills on mix tapes. Also known as the “Foul Priest” he has a potent style reminiscent of some of the greatest veterans of hip-hop. Combined with his lyrical ability Will Vill is bringing something fresh to the game.
Will’s sound is filled with straight up, hard-hitting beats providing the right edge to compliment his deep lyrics. True to NYC form, Will brings a gritty, rough and rugged sound that’s definitely East Coast, but with some strong flavor from The Heights. He uses his gift of seeing what’s happening in the street and lyrically takes you through the experience. This was evident in his first release “Devils in a Blue Dress,” which was a powerful song inspired by the crazy police brutality cases in New York. This also came through in his 2006 release “Same Year Different Number” which was described as one of the “most politically powerful songs released in years.” Whether it’s dealing with tough issues on the streets as he does in his new single “Man Listen” or with ghetto love stories as he does in the single “Confuzed,” Will knows how to grasp and describe the intensity better than most. The success of his first single led to Will’s first album “The Arrival.” This album included 16 tracks and confirmed his reputation as a master lyricist. His music has garnered national and international attention in media outlets such as the New York Times, Esquire Magazine, Stress Magazine, and many more. He has also performed with artists such as Mos Def, Dead Prez, and the Roots in major venues such as New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Will has spent the last few years perfecting his craft on paper and in the studio and is ready to release his new music. He signed with New York-based Barrio Jamz Recordings and is ready to take it to the next level. The first single to drop is “Confuzed” – a radio and club friendly joint featuring Jamaican R&B and Dancehall’s star Cherine Anderson and produced by the legendary team of Sly and Robbie. This will definitely make some noise and lay the foundation for what will follow. His next single is “Man Listen,” recorded and produced by Outshun Entertainment in New Orleans. After that it’s “Red Eye” and “Word Warrior” two other jamz recorded and produced by Sly and Robbie.
