"Gnawbone," produced by Gold Record recipient, Preacher Boy (Blind Pig Records, Coast Road Records, Eagle Eye Cherry) is Will Scott''s second release under his name and his studio debut. The album features guest performances by Jolie Holland, Samantha Parton (The Be Good Tanyas), and Jan Bell.

Known for his big, bluesy voice and distinctive guitar playing, Scott’s work has been labeled “Soul Americana”--a meeting of Alt. Country and Blues with a dash of Rock and Roll. The New York Press describes his voice as “thick as blood.” His popular weekly residency in Brooklyn is hailed as “the best weekly blues show in New York” by Lucid Culture. “Gnawbone” showcases his voice and style backed by some of the country’s finest musicians including Joe Magistro on drums, Jim Whitney on upright bass, and Preacher Boy on Hammond, piano, guitar, and more.
The first two tracks show Scott’s Indiana roots. Tom-Petty-styled rocker, “Jack’s Defeat Creek,” and slide-guitar romp, “Gnawbone,” are both inspired by towns of the same names in southern Indiana. Additional highlights include “Make Her Love Me,” a funky, Junior Kimbrough-inspired groove, “Stain Lifter,” a heavy-hitting song of contrition with a touch of Lanois-style production, and “Amen Corner,” a meditation on dying made heart-breaking by Jolie Holland’s devilish fiddle and the angelic backing vocals of Holland, Samantha Parton, and Jan Bell.
