Jeff’s undeniable energy, sweet rhythms, and melodic voice have been embraced worldwide. His style is often grouped with likable artists such as Bilal, Prince, and Anthony Hamilton. Aside from being known to many as a guitar player, Jeff exhibits his singing and songwriting capabilities.
Collaborating and performing with professional musicians all of his life has molded his craft into an expression that comes out of honesty and experience. Playing bass guitar for American Idol George Huff, Jeff took as a fun time in which he learned a lot about really getting into the music and enjoying every moment of performing.
Going to the Grammy’s in 2007 with Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame inductee The Christopher Wray Quartet sparked a new fire for his music. It was in this band that Jeff Mims experienced the most growth in being exposed to the straight ahead Jazz & fusion music. He fell in love with Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock and so many others.
Recording with Grammy nominated producer Chris Bell who’s engineered for Erykah Badu, Kirk Franklin, U2 and many more, taught him a lot about musical formula. Jeff concentrates on simplicity and focuses on nothing. His goal is to put everything thing he has into the music and then see what happens.
