Bio:

Kamikaze Baby’s sound, you should know, was first crafted in a musky garage in the Montreal suburbs back in the summer of 2002.

Having been equally frustrated by uncomfortable rehearsals directed by dead-end members, founders Giulio Pampena and Robert Scalia decided to take matters of songwriting and arranging into their own hands. Long conversations on musical integrity and the mockery of the human condition helped cement the relationship between the drummer and aspiring writer. After writing the strung-out Waltz verse and funky chorus to Tango Politico by the pool, the boys decided it was time to find some new members.

A one 18-year-old Angelo Ruscitti showed up at the Pampena garage sporting an oversized Deftones t-shirt with the Mohawk to match. But beneath the rough Nu-Metal appearance was a gentle, groovy player. Drama by Midnight was formed. But with a five-song demo in the works, the band’s much-anticipated Canada Day debut went sour after the show organizer repeatedly bumped the band right past the closing midnight slot. Guitarist Evan Garner was in no mood for irony, however, and left the band shortly after.

After endless guitar auditions, the band finally decided to try out long time friend and former Shannon Index guitarist Derek Orsi. Although somewhat rougher around the edges, Derek’s unbridled energy was evident from that first jam and would ultimately compliment the band’s infectious live show.

The boys settled on the name Kamikaze Baby following one particularly inspired conversation and too many bottles of red wine. Like the lyric from which the name was drawn, the band decided they would make a musical statement - even if it killed them.

That''s our take on it.

But here''s what the EXPERTS have to say:
