Kim Lyons
Kim Lyons has been writing music and lyrics most of her life and for the last few years has been co-writing with her husband, Rick. She draws on her life experiences to aid in her creating and writes to appeal to the “everyday” person in each of us. She is a member of ASCAP and the Nashville Songwriters’ Association International (“NSAI”) workshop in Johnson City, Tennessee where she continues to learn about the art of songwriting. She has played at numerous venues, including: The Virginia Highlands Festival, Bristol’s Rhythm & Roots Reunion, The Down Home in Johnson City, Tennessee, The Hall of Fame Lounge, The French Quarter Café’ and The Bluebird Café’ in Nashville, Tennessee. Kim is currently hosting Songwriter’s Night at Carter At Main in Elizabethton, TN.
When Kim decided to go to the studio and release a CD, choosing the songs was the hardest part. “I tried to mix it up a little, to keep it interesting so that different styles would be represented.” The title song on the CD is very special to Kim. The idea came from a Poem her daughter, Ashley wrote in school. Kim sat down with the guitar and began putting it to music. Her son, Matthew and her husband all contributed to the lyrical changes, using as much of the original poem as possible. “It has a little bit of all of us in it!”
Kim has also included an insert titled “The Stories Behind The Songs”. As you hear each story unfold, you can read about what inspired each one of the original songs. “As one of my friends put it – be careful what you tell Kim, it may just end up in a song.”
“I hope you enjoy the music that comes from my heart. My music is my escape from the everyday turmoil that is out there in the world. I believe there is good everywhere if you just look hard enough, even if you just take a look inside.”
