They combed the alleys to find hep-cats Pharaoh on guitar, Johnny Nine Lives on drums, and Bugsy Del Marr on tenor sax to complete the vintage vision. The music of the SophistiCats is a raucous composite of styles, from the bump n’ grind of 50s Las Vegas, the raunchy, red-light sax-driven jazz of old-time New Orleans strip joints, to the early 60s SoCal surf-a-go-go sound.
