Solis Rex was formed in New York City by Carlo Tonalezzi on guitars and Aerik Von on vocals.
On bass Solis Rex had a very special guest: Ron Bumblefoot Thal.
Bumblefoot is the current guitar player on Guns and Roses Chinese Democracy album.
On drums is Veronica Bellino which can be also heard on the Carmine Appice''s SLAMM.
The energy that was created in the studio between these four musicians was very powerful and the songs came out sizziling..."We all came from different musical backrounds" Explains Carlo Tonalezzi...I used to play for a Speed Metal band called Cerbero. Cerbero was the first Speed Metal / Heavy Metal band from Brazil and pre-dates Sepultura. Aerik comes from a Black Sabbath / Alice in Chains backround who''s voice and lyrics are very aggressive, Bumblefoot is a musical genius and an unbelivable player and Veronica Bellino is a very creative, solid timing, hard hitting drummer.
Bumblefoot was nothing short than amazing in the studio...He had called me a couple of days prior to going into the sessions to find out what style of bass playing I wanted for the songs, I told him that knowing his playing I was certain that anything he came up with would be great, but just for the fun of it I told him that I always wanted someone with the finesse of John Paul Jones, the creativity of Jaco Pastorius and the aggressiveness of Iron Maiden''s Steve Harris...! You''ve got to listen to songs like Apocalyptica to understand what I am talking about...he just came into the studio with the nicest of attitudes, very clever sense of humor and just delivered amazing performances in pretty much single takes.
Veronica Bellino...what can I say...she rocks! Again...great attitude...super professional!
We also had Artie Smith co-producing the songs with me, Jason Corsaro and Brian Thorn mixing and Fred Kevorkian mastering them. It was a true blast!
All the songs truly came from the heart, we were not trying to write into a certain style of music...we just kept playing and writing...the result is a very versatile album with different styles of Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal music...well you''ll be the judge!
