Indianapolis’ power trio, Coolidge, delivers catchy post-punk pop. Do you miss driving rock music that makes you feel good when you sing along? Just released, “Pop Star Baby” is the second album from Coolidge and is available on Triple R Records of Hoboken, NJ. All guns are blazing with the opening witty rocker, “I’m an Idiot”. Track two, “Sister Regret”, dips in to jazz influenced ska and alludes to the deep and assorted influences found throughout the disc. Coolidge takes you on a journey from the garage with the pop-culture-machine narrative of the title track, “Pop Star Baby” all the way to the arena with the fist-pumping “Rock Out with my Friends”. As the 2002 release “Center of the Universe” found Coolidge (a side project at the time), exploring more modern rock sounds, “Pop Star Baby” shows a return to a more upbeat, bouncy rhythm form. Coolidge, featuring singer/guitarist, Chris Smail, drummer, Matt Beaumont and bassist, Grant Segall, brings the rock with ten solid gems. “Pop Star Baby” was self-produced and self-recorded in multiple locations. In fact, much of the album was recorded in the temporary space of a local H&R Block office!

As a member of the former road-tested rock/ska band, Johnny Socko, Chris Smail has shared bills with such acts as Kid Rock, The Dave Matthews Band, Fishbone, da da, Sick Puppies, and Rick Springfield! He has burned up thousands of stages at all-ages venues, clubs, concerts and festivals from coast to coast. Coolidge brings the goods live. The Champaign, IL Gazette agrees, "Coolidge has evolved into a pop playing, guitar slinging machine…you will get a heavy dose of catchy songs and a big arena rock feel that will appeal to many a diverse listener."

An owner of a local venue, who commented on the broad appeal of Coolidge stated, “The thing about your band is you’re not going to offend anyone.” Well, we wouldn’t want to offend anyone, now would we?! Check out “Pop Star Baby” from Coolidge, a strong eclectic album with pop/rock sensibilities.
