Product Description: (English)
This CD has 13 poems. The first poem (Ngiuma Mũciĩ Ndiamenyaga) is a summary of the story “Maitũ nĩ Ma Itũ Kerĩ”. The last poem (Kwarĩ Irimũ rĩa Tũhiũhio) sums up Maitũ’s advice to the villagers and concludes the main story. All the other poems tell stand-alone stories, but taken together, they form parts of the main story.

These are edutainment poems. They are inspiring, challenging, educational, and entertaining.

From the Artist
I grew up at a time when children of my community usually sat around the fireplace in the evenings to listen to their grandmother''s tales of ogres and the animal kingdom. Some of the tales told to me then are still vivid in my mind. My realization that those tales were no longer told to our children inspired the production of my poetry CDs. I wanted to somehow create an avenue that would allow me to visit and share tales of old and contemporary ogres with willing families wherever they were.

Theoretically, I could now visit any homestead anywhere in the world by way of this poetry CD and share my tales with that homestead. Present day technology allows traditional knowledge to be universally shared. This is a positive development that we should embrace.

These poems echo Kenya''s Gĩkũyũ literary tradition and orature.
