Whether she is performing in her living room, or for a lively event, Amber maintains a heartfelt honesty which has become one of her main hallmarks as a singer-songwriter. Songwriting has always been about self-expression for Amber--a way to work through the complexities of life. Amber first discovered the therapeutic and motivating benefits of songwriting after she would play piano and sing for hours during her stormy adolescent years. It was not until she began to share her music as a local singer-songwriter, that Amber discovered how her music had a similar effect on her listeners. Once Amber realized how her transparency lifted spirits, and released emotion, she felt compelled to create songs that are raw and from the heart.
Amber is currently living in Northern California with her husband, and just completed "Close Your Eyes"--a four track CD. The CD was produced by Troy Welstad, a producer and keyboardist in the L.A. area (highly recommended!). After auditioning for Troy, Amber ventured to write three new songs for the project. The final song, "Move On," was recorded live with Amber on guitar, Troy on keys, and a friend on bass. Troy recently toured as a keyboardist for pop icons--Hillary Duff and Pink, and his production brings a Pop element to the CD. Nevertheless, the CD predominantly features Amber''s recent transition to a more Folk/Indie style, which Troy communicates beautifully.
"Close Your Eyes" is Amber''s featured song on the CD. The song is driven by a mellow acoustic guitar, and was inspired by the recent news that Amber''s mother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer. Seeing her husband facing sleepless nights after hearing the news of his mother, Amber felt the need to write this lullaby. Having her own share of sleepless nights, Amber wrote this song for those who have literally lost sleep over the painful experiences of life. "Glimpses" picks up on this theme of pain, but maintains that "living''s worth the pain." Overall, the four songs featured on the CD explore the themes of love, fear, courage, risk-taking, sorrow, loneliness and hope.
