PERENNIALS have finished Aliensphere and are in process of releasing. The album has taken on a life of its own and will be available 07.09 on Itunes etc shortly and is self described as Led Zeppelin & the Stooges bastard child. Below details revealed in an intimate interview. Interview with Ric Taylor Hamilton View Magazine 06.25.09 Chris Wilson has been making music in this city for years but the musician hasn''t been on the local stage as frequently as he once was. Rather than playing live, Wilson has spent the last while sequestering himself into his home studio to perfect the music before taking it to the public. With the new incarnation of his band, Perennials- including Jeff Korstanje on bass and Barry Lewis on Drums- Wilson is excited about coming out of the studio and releasing the new Album Aliensphere "I realized that I would never be able to afford or record all the music I was interested in that I was writing unless I built my own studio," recalls Wilson on documenting and producing his creative efforts."I built the studio because I believed that technology was giving me the artist the capabilities to produce a good sounding record in my house. Pay for the now affordable digital gear once as apposed to paying a fortune in a so called "Studio" as it turned out I was right although it took 9 years to achieve." The results are a solid hard rock affair with progressive leanings and punk ethic, something Perennials fans have come to expect but this time out perhaps reaching more closely to the expectations of the songwriter and producer. "During the course of making the album I experimented heavily with the best audio production simulators for analog gear out there I tried them all which helped the over shape the sound." explains Wilson. "I had a bunch of new riffs I had been working on and I decided to try it on a whim with this new threesome. Its a little progessive yet minimal and heavy but smooth sounding. The whole concept was alluring to us Like Led Zeppelin & the Stooges bastard child. I think of it as a real album a fresh band caught in caught live off the floor with minimal overdubs. The aliensphere concept of death and rebirth. "Before going out and playing Live I wanted to have some decent product and definitely a great album and some good chaps to work with," offers Wilson on his coming out. "I''ve always loved making and recording music but was never really confident enough in the big picture. Its changed. It feels good we''re coming out of the basement We plan to reach as many people possible with this record. The general reaction to the music has been awsome so far over 750 signed up to our mailing list. The show will be off the hook full lights and sound. The band is fired up so you better get ready because we plan to rock like never before or ever again. R.T. Last year, Perennials finished working on the album Street Blossoms; a collection some of their best past work remastered of course and aptly renamed Alchemy Blues. "Death Sex Voodoo Mache"; an eccentric type of exploration of sound using technology was also relatively finished in 2008 (releases pending). This is the story of a band called "Perennials" or maybe it is really the story of a musician named Chris Wilson. Now, you may think that you’ve heard elements of this story before BUT anyone who ever made as much heart-pounding music as this man, is already rich and famous. What makes this story truly unique is that you have the opportunity to affect the appropriate ending to it: This music needs to be heard! Especially the latest records. The story goes like this: Boy learns to play guitar, writes songs and starts a band. Boy grows up, becomes a great guitarist, writes many more songs and has many more bands. Boy becomes man, builds a studio, teaches his girl, Monica, to play drums and she joins the band. They make solid quality recordings of dozens and dozens of fantastic songs and musical pieces. Players join them and leave them and join them again. The music experiments with many venues, including ambient, heavy rock, experimental, pop and rock & roll . Live performances in the past were more shock and awe where as to day the band combines rock with ambient walls of sound. The band enjoys hints at commercial success with tours out East and shows at NXNE and well known clubs like the Rivoli and The Opera House. Chris earns revenue through royalties from overseas as well as local CD sales and studio production. The man continues to constantly write, play, sing and engineer and record a multitude of GREAT music; his own and others. Check out the new album ALIENSPHERE and get it played on the radio.
