He said that he knew this guy who had a friend of a friend, who had experience in fake documents. What he didn''t know was that man had ADHD. He just could''nt see. Well, when we left town we never bothered to look. That Georgia speed trap was all that it took. Now he''s Gladys and she''s Mitch. Don''t ask. Well that''s our story. At least it''s what we''ll admit. It might not be honest, but we''re stickin'' to it.
Geography is an array of well-crafted songs encompassing the wit of Warren Zevon and the street sense of Bruce Springsteen. The tracks explore a gamut of emotions from love gone wrong to love gone right. Each is based from an inspirationally significant geographical location. Gladys and Mitch assess the angst of On-the-Road insomnia in "Miss Philadelphia", the frustration of pointless litigation in "Where''s a Quaalude", as well as the joys of a two day love affair, in which the target of affection ends up a thousand miles away in "Cocoa Beach".
The journey of Geography begins with an examination of life from the view of a motel room window in a sordid section of West Los Angeles and climaxes with the desire that America return to a democracy originally envisioned by its forefathers which has been protected and defended by its youth and their sacrifices over the last two and a quarter centuries.
All of these sentiments are further textured by the vocal harmonies of Gladys and Mitch. Their harmonies rekindle a long abandoned aural precision yet maintain a focus towards new heights.
