Hello fellow music makers and music lovers. I''ve got a brand new record to share and want to let you know all about it. Please feel free to listen to my song clips here and let me know what you think. Here''s a bit of background in case you''re curious...

I wanted to make an honest record. As a solo performer, I don''t currently have a band: it''s just me and my acoustic guitar out there live. A full-time performing singer-songwriter, Six-String Radio is my third record.

I''m still proud of my first two independent releases, each made with the best players I could afford in the best studios available at the time. I love playing with a band because I''m a pop/rock baby down to my soul, and I love folk and country, whose flavors are undeniably present in my songs. But even given those influences, labels and genres don''t really matter much to me when I''m making music.

Since writing and performing songs is my calling, it doesn''t get any more genuine than seeing and hearing me live. That''s what Six-String Radio is: twelve live takes, mistakes and all, just like any of my performances -- an honest record. No Pro-Tools, no vocal tuning, no drum machines or click tracks. We recorded it at a humble place called Freaktown Heights -- not an official studio by any stretch of the imagination -- and then we were fortunate to have Toby Mountain master it at his place, Northeastern Digital.

Summer 2006 marked 30 years since I first picked up a guitar as a seven-year-old kid. Since my last record was released, my live concert calendar has become steadier and I''ve really been taken with music from masters like Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles and Willie Nelson -- four artists who knew a thing or two about the beauty of economy and simplicity in song.

These days, I play as much as I can to earn a living, and often, that involves covering other artists. The five covers featured on Six-String Radio are songs I love, songs I''ve made my own. Songs I perform nearly every night I play live. They include:

U2''s
"Where The Streets Have No Name"

John Cougar Mellencamp''s
"Ain''t Even Done With The Night"

Johnny Cash''s
"I Feel Better All Over"

Joni Mitchell''s
"A Case Of You"

and

The Eurythmics''
"When The Day Goes Down"

Given that the world feels like it''s becoming more and more surreal, I needed to keep my recording process simple, honest and real. Maybe these twelve tracks would''ve been considered "acoustic demos" or "scratch tracks" if I were making another band record. But Six-String Radio is me living within my craft and means -- no backup, no gloss, no big budget bank loan.

Right now, SSR lives up to my ideal of a real record: an audio snapshot of where I am as an artist today. You can consider it a live performance at an intimate venue, or a house concert in your living room, sans the applause and crowd noise. It''s just me and my two Guild Songbird acoustics, singing and playing live.

Thank you for stopping by, reading and listening. Hope you enjoy these songs and share them with anyone else who''ll love ''em, too!

With every good wish,
GMG
