Hi there. I play guitar. That just about sums it up.
For the last 30-some years, I have been what is called a "working musician," or a "jobber." This basically means that you play music to order; take requests, make people dance, etc. In short, a job.
This is the first recording I have done that is made up of mostly my own compositions. Having always been a jazz musician, an improviser, it was a new adventure, and quite a challenge, to actually write down these pieces, and play them the same way every time.
But it was fun to try something new. And in the process, I have created some music that has come to mean a lot to me, because it was created in mind of people and places that mean a lot to me.
From the beginning, this CD was meant to be a calming, relaxing experience. I have consciously tried to make the beginnings and endings be easy on the ears, not too abrupt. If you click on the samples and nothing seems to happen right away (tracks 5 & 10), please be patient.
Everyday life has become such a hectic activity. Our society is described as "fast-paced," as if this were a good thing. We are constantly urged to work longer hours, make more money, and buy more things. We have almost no time to ourselves, few opportunities to interact with our friends and families, and we have virtually no concept of "enough."
My hope is that the music on this CD will make you want to hug a loved one more often, or help you recover from a stressful situation, or induce you to stop and watch a beautiful sunset.
