Fun and singing along is the name of the game with Miss Nina’s debut children’s album. An eclectic mix of Jazz, Blues and a touch of Rock, this is kids music they’ll never get tired of, and neither will the parents!
Miss Nina got her singing start while performing on stage & screen, and she’s brought that same level of excitement and joy that she’s known for there to her debut album of original children’s songs. Born out of both her New York City preschool classes and her time as a teacher for Gymboree Play & Music, "Singing and Dancing Together" is eleven of her students’ favorite songs, all of which are constant requests at her many live performances and playgroups in the New York City area. Her contagious joy for life, music and togetherness is a well-known commodity, and she’s now greeted on the streets of NYC by adults and children alike with big smiles and waves – “Hi Miss Nina!”
At the end of each semester at Woodside Preschool, Miss Nina would give out a CD of some simple recordings of her students’ favorite songs. Soon she got feedback like, “Our whole family’s been listening to your CD on our summer road trips!” and “That CD is the best thing you could have every given us! My 2-year-old son will sit in front of the CD player listening and playing along, and I’m able to go get the dishes done!” After a while though, the comments changed a bit, “Nina, we love you and we love your voice, but could you please do another CD, we’ve listened to this one hundreds of times and I need something new!”
And so the idea for a CD was born: Seven original songs, a medley of sing-along favorites, a music version of Karen Ehrhardt’s successful children’s book “This Jazz Man”, and a couple of other classics later, "Singing & Dancing Together" was completed. A 30-minute CD of songs that Nina hopes will keep your child engaged in play, dancing, singing and imagination for the duration. And one that adults will find themselves singing along to as well!
