TEARS were formed in 1998 by American/Greek Gouaime Divanis.

-TEARS have played all underground venues in Athens, Greece as well as underground festivals in Camden town, London. The band has sold several thousand copies of their work at gigs and over their official site.
-TEARS have gained stunning reviews from reputable press around the world establishing them in the underground scene! The band has been complimented on their unique sound, song writing skills, vocals, as well as their performing skills.
-TEARS have been voted demo/EP of the month on several e-zines and magazines around the world including the METAL HAMMER magazine in Athens (Twice)!
-TEARS track ‘Time Master’ featured in the band’s debut album is the main soundtrack on ‘crazy greek productions’ new film by Nikos Samaras (https://www.tradebit.com). The film also features several of Gouaime’s contemporary classical compositions. The film will be presented at most major contemporary festivals in Europe and will be screened at several ‘cult’ cinemas around Greece.
-TEARS songs were included in two compilations (underground tapes, metal storm sampler). In both compilations the TEARS track was the opening track!
-The band has been interviewed by several fanzines as well as the METAL HAMMER in Greece (TWICE)! The second interview will be published in June (2009) including a special brief review on the band’s debut album ‘fame’.
-Gouaime directed TEARS first video clip for the song ‘LAME’ which will be aired by the most popular heavy metal TV show on Greek MTV along with a short interview of the band! The videoclip is quite experimental and can be viewed on the bands official myspace page, or on youtube (search ‘TEARS- Lame’).
- TEARS debut album has been produced at high end studios in London and mastered by Jens Bogren at fascination street studios in Sweden. The record was mainly produced and mixed by Gouaime going for a realistic representation of the surreal 140 tracks per song, on average (not including double tracking!)
- The ‘main man’ of the band is Gouaime (Vocals & Guitars) who has composed all music and lyrics and has been running the band since day one.
Gouaime was born on the 2nd of June 1983. He grew up in Athens, Greece and spent the last 7 years in U.K. Gouaime has completed two bachelor degrees and two masters! Has composed and produced all of TEARS work as well as composed and produced music for two dance acts (won a music award), one play and a film! Gouaime has spent most of his life in Europe nevertheless receiving great influence from his father (American). Receiving strong influences just as much from the European as well as the American culture Gouaime’s music reflects the two core cultures in which ‘hard music’ was born and developed!

• Bachelor in music composition at the national music conservatory of Greece.
• Masters in contemporary music composition at Goldsmith’s, University of London
• Started classical guitar at the age of 6, and studied music with Roger Redgate and Nikos Panagiotakis
• Bachelor and Master in acoustical engineering at Southampton University, U.K (5 star research centre)
• Research for CELESTION Loudspeakers as a guitarist and acoustical engineer at the age of 19!
• Research for Rolce Royce (2005-2006).
• Designed the acoustics for 5 new metro stations in Athens!!
Gouaime’s most profound devotion to his music has been proven throughout the years by his severe persistence and career choices where several times he had given up a potential career as an engineer in order to keep up with his music studies but most of all writing and playing with his band.
