MP3 Brooks Wood Band - Breathe In, Breathe Out

Rock/Pop/Funk

4 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Americana, ROCK: Roots Rock

Details:
Known by its grassroots following as "BWB", the Brooks Wood Band got its start in the music ensembles of NC State University and has been steadily growing its fanbase and original sound one show at a time. The members - Brooks Wood, Miah Wander, Paul Sheeran, Greg Holzer, and Danny Shampine - have the attitude of living life to the fullest, and the music they create preaches that creed night in and night out.

Creating a unique blend of elements and genres across the board, BWB has cultivated a sound all its own. A listener once coined the genre as ''acoustic-soulful-funkadelic-country-rock'' with pop flavorings. At the end of the day, it''s feel-good music that will save your soul and make you a believer.

The Brooks Wood Band has played in well-known venues ranging from the beaches of the South to the heart of downtown New York City and everywhere in between. They have had the honor of sharing the stage with bands such as The Gin Blossoms, Athenaeum, Carbon Leaf, Virginia Coalition, Hobex, Bain Mattox, as well as talented local Raleigh bands such as Evenfall, Inflowential, Ashley River Rising, and Big City Reverie.

The band made its first studio recording in July 2005 with the ''Today''s the First Day'' EP, which was recorded at Underground Recording in Greensboro, NC by Saul Johnson and mixed by Joe Barbera of Online Mixing Service. To support it, the band went on a short tour up the East coast, where it was well-received by fans and new listeners and led to a live radio performance on local Raleigh radio station 88.1 WKNC FM. Ultimately the recording led to opportunities such as playing the side-stage at the Dave Matthews Band''s 2005 Raleigh show at Alltel Pavillion through 96.1 FM''s yearly battle of the bands competition and placing as semi-finalists in Icehouse''s national ''Rock the Boat'' competition.

In May 2006, BWB entered the studio to capture the new songs and sounds that reflect the development the members had gone through as musicians and songwriters over the previous year. The CD, titled "Breathe in, Breathe out" is set for a September release date, and was recorded at Low Watt studios in Raleigh by acclaimed producer Ted Comerford (Virginia Coalition, American Hi-Fi, Ben Folds, Down Dexter), engineer Matt Boswell, and highly sought mixer Jeff Juliano (John Mayer, Lifehouse, Dave Matthews Band, Jason Mraz) and was mastered at Studio B in Charlotte, NC by Dave Harris. The songs on it showcase the band members'' skill and range as musicians, ranging from slow contemplative ballads to high-energy funk-flavored party songs switching in and out of time signatures with ease. With the recent addition of keyboardist and backup-vocalist extraordinaire Holzer, the band has created an electric live show chemistry and expansive sound that has garnered overwhelmingly positive crowd response, and they''re looking to spread their attitude and sound fan by fan in the upcoming years.
