MP3 Brainwave - The Hour Is Coming

Stabbing beats and a lush apocalyptic melody featuring the vocal styling of SATAN (er, ah...Dubya)drive this single''s title cut.

4 MP3 Songs
ELECTRONIC: Techno, ELECTRONIC: Trance

ABOUT THE CD:

If a song can be dark and ominous, and at the same time encompass tongue in cheek humor, “The Hour Is Coming” is it. Processed speech clips of George Dubya chant his warning in this cynical goose stepper, with stabbing beats propelling the apocalyptic theme.
The second song is the trance interlude in the original long version of the title cut. It stands up on it’s own with a floating, totally deep vibe from beginning to end. This version has a steady, bouncing house groove driving a menacing, atmospheric feel.
Digital Dogma is an exercise in groove hypnosis and danceable soundscapes. This track pairs melodic synth and mellotron themes over loops, all in a whole tone scale reminiscent of Orbital, and dance friendly drum programming.
The final cut is the full, original version of the title track before it was dissected into 2 songs.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Brainwave is a one man electronic music head from Milwaukee named Vince Andrae. His main influences are early Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Orbital, progressive and new wave rock. Vince was the leader of a fusion influenced new wave rock band in the 80’s called “Life On Other Planets”. The band played mostly very tight original rock in the vein of Level 42 or XTC, and also covers by The Talking Heads, The Police, Brian Ferry, The Flying Lizards, etc. The band played the Milwaukee circuit through the 80’s and performed on stage with the likes of The Stranglers, The Violent Femmes and Jerry Harrison of The Talking Heads.
His main thrust though, was always electronic music. Even though Life On Other Planets did a fair amount of improvising, Vince always “wrote songs”, do to his background in progressive rock, and the new wave era. That atribute is still in the mix.
With Brainwave, Vince set out to do a more flowing, techno-ambient, instrumental approach. Fill his K2000 with some inspirational samples or get some arpeggiators bubbling on an Access Virus Indigo. From there, compose layers and melodies. Although the songs are never left very open ended. Vince always hears a “best” version in his head and works to get there.
This current project was produced almost entirely in Ableton Live 4.0 using audio tracks recorded in Pro Tools with Sample Tank 2.0 and an Access Virus Indigo.
