About the Album:

Silent Victim is an enhanced CD, with extras accessible from most computers. It contains some of BronweN''s original artwork (she likes to do oil paintings) and a short story selected from her growing collection. $15 is really worth it because this is not just music, it is a full artist package.

The packaging of this album is 100% cardboard because BronweN does not want to put anymore plastic into the environment (and those darn plastic cases break too easily anyway).
With a smooth matte finish and printed with photos and BronweN''s thoughts, the packaging itself is a work of art.
"My inspiration came from Ani DiFranco. Her packaging is always really beautiful and I wanted to put in that extra bit of work for people who are actually spending money on this CD."

Silent Victim was recorded partly at Camillion Studios, partly at the famed Greenhouse Studios (Nickelback, Barenaked Ladies, Bon Jovi) and partly in BronweN''s living room in the middle of the night.
Silent Victim was co-produced by Cameron Grant and BronweN, and was mixed by Brandon Cherrigton at Greenhouse Studios. Mastering was done by Craig Waddell at Gotham City Studios.

About the Music:

Silent Victim is BronweN’s response to years of bullying, and the public’s reaction to 4 test songs on myspace has been overwhelming.

With an impressive 3-octave range, BronweN has the ability to belt out her frustrations or whisper love in your ear, all with a convincing intensity reminiscent of PJ Harvey and Alanis Morissette. BronweN shows her multi-instrumental prowess by layering rhythm guitar with melancholic piano riffs and edgy violin lines that are haunting and sexy. Added to this are performances from some major talent, including Grammy award-winning drummer Randall Stoll.

BronweN covers the entire emotional spectrum on Silent Victim, daring to move from enraged to hopeful in the blink of an eye. Her lyrics are brutally honest, digging heavily into various kinds of victimization and self esteem as well as love. “I am human and my mood can change very quickly. I just want to be as real as I possibly can be. If people connect with my songs, that would really be cool, more than I could hope for.”

About the Artist:

BronweN began her musical journey at the tender age of 4, when offered the chance to play violin. She advanced quickly, participating in music festivals and scoring high on examinations. She continued her classical studies for 8 years.

BronweN wrote her first song at age 11. One fateful day in grade 6, a classmate stole one of her songs from her backpack, photocopied it 100 times and wallpapered the class. “I was devastated. I was laughed at for weeks.” BronweN’s inspiration dried up. Her prolific songwriting came to a halt, and she quit the violin. Sick of the constant bullying, she took up smoking to try and fit in. “It wasn’t about being cool; it was about making friends. I desperately wanted to have a friend and smoking seemed like the way to make it happen.”

Fast forward to age 21, when BronweN’s poetry once again took lyrical form. Wanting a way to add music, she bought a guitar and the rockstar dream returned. As soon as she had mastered 4 chords she wrote “Evermore”, a song about her puppy love. “He always believed that I would be whatever I wanted to be. It’s cool that the first song I wrote when I came back to music was about him.”

At the age of 22, a friend let her borrow a violin. She describes it as coming home. “I knew that something was missing, but I didn’t know what until it was in my hands.” She now plays the electric violin, preferring it to the acoustic because of the effects she can use. At 22 she also quit smoking. “That choice was a no-brainer. I want to be able to sing.”

In 2004 BronweN moved to Vancouver from Fredericton, NB and has been honing her performance skills in venues such as The Candy Bar, The Media Club, and The Five Point. She placed third in the Sweet Basil Talent Search, a city wide competition with finalists performing original songs for a live audience.

BronweN loves being on stage. “It is my drug. There is nothing else in this world that makes me happier.” She has just finished her first commercial release, Silent Victim, which deals heavily with the theme of bullying. “It is something that I know all to well,” she says. “It needs to be addressed and I hope to stimulate conversation through my music.” BronweN plans to be an advocate for action against the bullying that happens on and off of school property. “I have a talent and a voice. I plan to use them to do something good for society.”

BronweN sings, plays electric violin, acoustic guitar, keyboards, and bass.

"Big thank you to everyone who supports my art by buying this album!"
