MP3 Bow Jenkins - The Acoustic Sessions

The now 17 year old Bow Jenkins has produced an album of truly stunning and cinematic songs in the vein of Sprinsteen and Joni Mitchell, that''ll move you to the core and will have you sitting in silence for the entirety of the album... Truly stunning...

7 MP3 Songs
FOLK: like Joni, ROCK: Acoustic

Details:
This second album from the now 17 year old Bow Jenkins is a triumph in songwriting and performance. With songs that echo the likes of Springsteen, Dylan and Joni, this young singer songwriter, born and bred in the East End of London, has managed to develop her own style and direction, dealing with subjects ranging from love and hope, to politics, growing up, regret and joy...

''The Acoustic Sessions'' is ultimately a collection of dark folk songs that are played just right, sung just right, and written just right, with ballads on piano and guitar, and potentially very huge rock songs too!

The range in Bow''s voice, and the gravelly tones that she''s belssed with, only enhance the beauty of this album, which is undeniably raw (it was recorded in her bedroom, while the rest was recorded live...)
It was well worth the wait for this new material. Bow has come on a lot in all areas, and this album demostrates this 100%! Without a doubt one of the best independent albums of the year, and a hugely promising artist that is bound to go very very far indeed...

Bow Jenkins says:

"Hi guys! Firstly, thankyou for taking the time to read this and listen to my music! It means a lot to me!
This is my second album, which I decided to put out as a demo come professional recording this summer. I recorded all the songs that are backed by piano at home, and the songs with guitar were recorded live at a studio up the road!
I wrote all the songs, except for Hallelujah, and I performed all the songs too! Everything you hear on this album is 100% Bow Jenkins - nothing more, nothing less! Infact - it''s the exact opposite of my first album, which was full of different instruments and harmonies and musicians... And that''s what I wanted... My writing has changed, I''ve grown, and my music reflects that (I hope!)
Initially this was going to be a 4 track piano and voice demo, but then I got to play live on BBC radio, and the 3 guitar songs that I did got such a good reception that I thought I''d put them on it too! So it''s basic, acoustic, and I hope you''ll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!"

Here''s the first official review of ''The Acoustic Sessions'':

These are seven tracks from this unspeakably talented seventeen-year-old, Devonshire lass, on her second album. Bow Jenkins has been recording her own songs since the age of fourteen, and has a beauty and depth to her songwriting that recalls the best of Joni Mitchell and Tori Amos.

This is elegantly produced with a sparseness that allows the strength of the songs to shine through and space to linger, accompanied by a powerful and emotive voice. The only instruments you hear are the piano, guitar and vocals that she has blended into an atmospheric concoction that Jeff Buckley’s estate would’ve been proud to have been posthumously released.

Starting out with In the Night, Bow’s gentle aching voice plays across the haunting piano keys lamenting late into the night. There is Janis Joplin here in the blues pulled from the depths of this soul. There are breathless whispers of love, loss and lessons learnt the hard way.
Black Rain Falling slides into standout track, Lights of the Carnival, with acoustic guitar and piano playing background melodies and rhythms to the stories that Bow has to tell.
Tonight the Riots Begin mixes the sadness of Thea Gilmore’s finer lyrics with Tracy Chapman’s guitar delivery. A lifetime spent globetrotting on a tight budget with her parents has given this young girl a lifetime’s worth of wisdom and the songs benefit from her mature perspective.
