Philly''s favorite funk/jazz band has delivered a gorgeous record. These guys are great players, with a smooth-but-not-patronizing sound that has been known to melt the hardest of cores. It''s almost impossible not to compare these guys to local heroes G-Love and Special Sauce, but these guys are fresh in their own rite. Totally danceable and respectable at the same time, Velvet Gold is shiny and soft, just like the title tells you. And who doesn''t like shiny, soft stuff?
