Details:
Trip The Dandy was recorded in December of 2005. Jeff Ignatius from the River Cities'' Reader(https://www.tradebit.com) says this of ''Trip the Dandy'' and Burnt Ends:
"...Dominated by waves of articulate but mix-mellowed guitars, Burnt Ends sounds like nobody else yet comes from a tradition of oddball pop that includes the Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, and Neutral Milk Hotel - bands that craft a unique sound without ever forcing the issue or drawing attention to how strange they really are; they make their bizarre music sound like the most natural thing in the world.
Burnt Ends most closely resembles spacey alternative country, but its building blocks are so unconventional that it''s barely kin. The band has a casual mastery of arrangement, of making deliberate components sound organic."
Everyone has heard of weekly poker night, or book club. Burnt Ends started out at a weekly guitar club. A revolving cast of wanna-be guitar players teaching each other bits and pieces. In the beginning, playing from sheet music(Hymms and Bob Dylan,) and then quickly preferring to write their own acoustic jams. Next came drums and electric guitars In late 2004, the current line-up was rounded out with a drummer and someone with some actual singing experience(Watkins.) An underground cd-r was recorded and passed out in late 2005. It was called Burning Brain.
