A long, long time ago, two friends, rhythm and melody, came to me and said... come out and play... I thought for a while and said... WHAT? Again... come out and play... I then understood... come out and play with others and JAM!! At that time, I played the drums... I love the drums. But the search continued for my voice, and I switched to the bass (which is right next to the drums)... Still searching, the gutitar was starting to sing, and the choice was made... did I mention, I love the drums?
The Buddha Cats have become the most FREE experience as a band. John and Tom bring their life into every moment we play together... always a new approach, reflecting the day. So, we record every time we play. On the latest CD "FREE", the 9th song "Bring up the Kid", was recorded (to cassette) as a jam... no preconceived ideas or chord structure, just push record and JAM. The result grew on us, and we decided to re-create the exact sounds for the produced CD. In my opinion, the sounds are better on the CD, but the energy and magic of the FIRST time, is impossible to re-create. (you can download the original take of "Bring up the Kid" as an mp3 when available... let us know what you think)
We also spend quite a bit of time mountain biking (day and night rides) and have found the physical demands of the JAM, very similar to climbing the hill... warm up, rhythm and breath into the climb... and fly down hill.
