A youthful Penny embraced world travel after spending a year in Norway. Life amid the fjords and midnight sun broadened her perspectives beyond her Cajun roots. The Colorado Rockies, the Ozarks and the gulf Coast beaches awakened her love of nature during undergraduate studies. Creative writing graduate studies at University of the Americas amid the Cholula (Mexico) pyramids, led her in to the mentorship of a master yogi. Yoga and meditation became part of her evolving life philosophy.
Penny refers to the 1980''s as her Spa Decade when she retreated to nationally and internationally acclained spas. She experienced various approaches to wellness. Exotic travels in the last quarter of the twentieth century immersed Penny in holistic studies and practices. A new millennium twist, landed her and her husband, marion, in the lovely San Juan Mountains of Ridgway, Colorado. This year long sabbatical brought unexpected lessons that likened the breadth of her inner knowledge to the vastness of the Colorado terrain.
She returned to embrace her native Louisiana in the face of the Katrina-Rita devastation. Epidemic human insecurities compelled Penny to open her heart and soul to those in need. The question was: how could she help? The answer crystallized and she became a certified yoga instructor; established her own studio, Yoga & Beyond by pennimo; and, has been teaching ever since. The anxiety-laden economic crunch of 2009 challenged Penny to take meditation "off the mat" to produce her first guided meditation CD, Universal Flow by pennimo.
"Guided meditation," Penny believes, "simply enables you to access your own inner peace, which seems to elude many. Coupled with Steven Halpern''s ambient music, I provide a vocal mode of transportation to journey beyond yourself. You need little else than a quiet space, a yoga mat or easy chair, and a fragrant candle. Let my vivid imagery and vocal cues take you to a place of beauty, peace and healing. It is my privilege to share with you my image of the Great Divine in this, my first CD."
pennimo promises to continue teaching but to never cease being a student of the universe.
