Details:
Betty Meade comes out of retirement to perform these modern renditions of early gospel and traditional spiritual classics in memory of her grandparents, the late Rev. Jasper and Sallie Burrell.
Born Betty Talford on January 22, 1964, Betty Meade grew up singing in the church choir where her first solo performance was "Because He Lives."
Mrs. Meade attended Castlewood High School located in Castlewood, Virginia and then went on to Hiwassee College, located in Madisonville, Tennessee where she participated in the choir at both schools. From the mid 70’s to the late 80’s she performed extensively with her brother Tom Talford. Betty and Tom Talford collaborated on the writing and performing of rhythm & blues songs during this portion of her career where Betty also performed back up vocals on several gospel recording projects as well.
After her marriage to Terry Meade, Betty traveled on an extensive 7 year evangelical tour including performances in South West Virginia, Northeast Tennessee, and North Carolina, at revivals and other church programs. Mrs. Meade retired from performing in 2001 but music has remained a central part of her life.

Press Release: Reeds Valley Records, the local independent record company operating out of Castlewood, VA, released its second sound recording on January 1, 2006. This new extended play CD release entitled “In Memory Of” contains a collection of modern arrangements of traditional spirituals and other gospel songs performed by Betty Meade, also of Castlewood. Ms. Meade came out of retirement in order to perform these classics selected from the Gospel Pearls Hymnal in memory of her grandparents, the late Rev Jasper and Sallie Burrell. The Rev. Jasper Burrell went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 12, of 2005 at the age of 93
