Details:
A year and a half after the release of their eponymous EP, Philadelphia indie rock/pop group The Quelle Source returns with their debut LP “Enjoy the Ridge.” Released on December 12, 2009, “Enjoy the Ridge” finds the band abandoning the sheen of their EP in favor of 10 tracks laced with lengthy guitar feedback and pop hooks alike – tracks ranging from the Wolf Parade-tinged opener “Climateers” to the Mountain Goats-cum-Bright Eyes lyrical rant of “The State Line.”

Unlike the band''s 2008 EP, which was recorded in three days, “Enjoy the Ridge” took 11 months of home recording to complete, including one total erasure of the whole album five months into the process. But recording at home gave the band all the time they needed to pepper songs like “The Silence Is On” with lengthy, coordinated double-guitar solos, host a party with 60 of their closest friends to provide group vocals for the jubilant “Hi-Fi Glasses Crush,” and use singer Kevin Ryan''s high-ceilinged bathroom for the vocals on slow burner “Wives'' Tale.”

“Enjoy the Ridge” contains no love songs. Why would it when it hits on so many other more interesting topics, including the irrational fear that all the oxygen on Earth will suddenly and violently disappear (“Creepy”), why living with your parents may or may not destroy your creative muse (“Scratch Your Fast Forward”), and what you might be thinking about as you ride a bike through a post-apocalyptic metropolis (“That''s What Bees Said”)?

Bio: Formed in 2005 from the ashes of two terrible high school bands, The Quelle Source has played a role in the rising Philadelphia indie rock/pop scene ever since, playing at Philadelphia mainstays the North Star Bar, Milkboy Cafe, and The M Room, in addition to venues like Piano’s in New York. After nearly five years together, the band has seen a lot – they’ve had bricks thrown toward them (but not at them) at a Penn State University campus party, released demos from “Enjoy the Ridge” on cassette tapes, and been chosen as the student band representatives to open for Lupe Fiasco at the St. Joseph''s University''s 2008 Spring Concert. Also of note – “Quelle” is German for “source.”
